Quest Analytics Nodes, the Genomics Compute Cluster (GCC), the Kellogg Linux Cluster (KLC), and Quest OnDemand, will be unavailable for scheduled maintenance starting at 8 a.m. on Monday, June 22, and ending at 5 p.m. on Friday, June 26.
Service Improvements: • Faster compute time due to improved intra- and inter-node GPU communication. • Faster job recovery (via expedited job requeue on node failure) and improved job monitoring (via new job filtering options based on runtime) through scheduler upgrade to Slurm v25.11. • FastX4 will be available to provide a more reliable and secure remote desktop experience (FastX3 desktop client can still be used to connect to Quest after the maintenance). • Improved GPU software performance and developer productivity through updates to CUDA 13.3, including enhanced libraries, tooling, and support for emerging AI models • Required patching, software upgrades, and equipment maintenance.
Impact on Quest and Globus Users: • Jobs with a wall time extending into the maintenance period will not run. (These jobs will receive a "ReqNodeNotAvail, Reserved_for_maintenance" message). • Access to Quest (including Quest Analytics Nodes, GCC, and KLC) will be unavailable. • Jobs and processes running when the maintenance begins will be canceled. • Globus will not be available to transfer data to/from Quest. • The expiration dates of all user files in the Quest global scratch space will be extended to 30 days following the maintenance.

The myHR system will undergo scheduled maintenance to upgrade the underlying technology platform and receive Critical Patch Updates and other Selective Adoption patches to address vulnerabilities. The work requires a more extensive downtime, and together with our business partners, we have the identified maintenance date for myHR. myHR will be unavailable beginning Thursday, June 25, at 5 p.m. through Saturday, June 27, at approximately 6 p.m.
What This Means • Functionality — The system components and capabilities you currently enjoy in myHR will continue to function after the upgrade as they do now. We do not expect significant changes to functionality—any functionality changes would be minimal. Before logging into myHR after the upgrade, users will need to clear their cache. • Visuals — The look and feel of each system (branding) will change minimally. • Data Availability — During the downtime, data lookup will remain available to administrators in the myHR reporting database. All reports will remain accessible in Cognos and myHR reporting queries. Posted on

Northwestern IT continues to work with our local telephone service carrier to resolve the issue with one way audio on calls between University phones and off-campus phones. The issue is impacting both inbound and outbound calls. On campus calls are not affected.

Northwestern IT is investigating reports of one way audio (one party can hear the other, but not vice versa) on some telephone calls that are being made from off-campus telephones to University phone numbers. At this point in time only a small proportion of calls are experiencing the issue. Our telephone service carrier has been engage to assist with analysis and troubleshooting.
